'Vedaa' box office collection: John Abraham's actioner underperforms on Monday
John Abraham and Sharvari's action film, Vedaa, has been struggling at the box office since its release on August 15. Despite the Raksha Bandhan holiday, the movie failed to recover on its first Monday, marking its lowest daily earnings yet. According to Sacnilk, Vedaa collected only ₹1.5 crore on its fifth day of release, bringing its total domestic collection to ₹15.5 crore.
'Vedaa' underperforms in comparison to 'Stree 2'
Vedaa has been overshadowed by the box office success of Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, which was released on the same day. The film started its box office journey with an opening collection of ₹6.3 crore, a fraction of Stree 2's opening, which set a benchmark with ₹51.8 crore.
'Vedaa' experiences a steep dip in collections
Vedaa saw a steep 71% dip on Friday, collecting only ₹1.8 crore. It managed a slight recovery over the weekend, earning ₹2.7 crore on Saturday and ₹3.2 crore on Sunday. However, the worryingly low earnings on Monday have cast doubt on its box office trajectory. Vedaa had an overall 20.48% Hindi occupancy on Monday, with the highest occupancy of 29.38% during night shows.
'Vedaa' underperforms compared to Abraham's previous films
Abraham's last film, Pathaan, was a massive hit, but it was primarily a Shah Rukh Khan-starrer with John playing the antagonist. Compared to his previous lead roles, Vedaa has underperformed as well. For example, Ek Villain Returns earned ₹3.02 crore on its first Monday, while the notorious bomb, Attack earned ₹1.54 crore, slightly more than Vedaa.
'Vedaa' marks third collaboration between Abraham and Nikkhil Advani
Vedaa is directed by Nikkhil Advani, marking his third collaboration with Abraham after Batla House and Salaam-E-Ishq. Batla House was a hit at the box office, earning almost ₹100 crore against a budget of ₹45 crore. Vedaa is a remake of the Tamil film Vedalam (2015) and also stars Sharvari, who made her debut with Bunty Aur Babli 2.
