    What's the story

The Hollywood blockbuster, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, has reached a significant milestone in India by crossing the ₹100cr nett mark at the end of its fifth week.

This achievement makes it the 14th Hollywood film to reach this prestigious benchmark.

Notably, this is the first time a Warner Bros production has accomplished such a feat, joining other major Hollywood studios like Disney, Universal, Sony, and Paramount.

    Box office success

'Godzilla X Kong's impressive fifth week earnings

In its fifth week, Adam Wingard's monster film earned ₹5.75cr at the Indian box office, marking a mere 28% drop from the previous week.

This brought its total five-week earnings to ₹125.50cr (₹100.25cr nett).

The film has shown remarkable resilience with less than a 40% drop over the last two weeks, demonstrating its sustained popularity among Indian audiences.

The film is reportedly mounted on a budget of ₹11.25M.

Its worldwide collections stand at $523M.

    Regional triumph

Looking at its remarkable success in Tamil Nadu

The success of Godzilla x Kong has been particularly noteworthy in Tamil Nadu, where it is the third highest-grossing Hollywood film ever, reportedly.

It surpassed films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Avengers: Infinity War, amassing ₹32cr in just five weeks.

Currently, it trails only Avatar 2 (₹70cr) and Avengers: Endgame (₹39cr) in the region's box office earnings.

    Future projections

Its potential to break more records

Given its current trajectory, Godzilla x Kong is poised to surpass ₹130cr, potentially making it the third highest-grossing Hollywood film in India over the last two years.

It is currently behind only Oppenheimer and Fast X while overtaking Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning.

The list of highest-grossing Hollywood films at the Indian box office comprises Avatar: The Way of Water at ₹467cr, Avengers: Endgame at ₹448cr, and Avengers: Infinity War at ₹297cr, among others.
