Box office: Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan' falls short of ₹30cr mark

Ajay Devgn's biographical sports drama, Maidaan, is experiencing a tough run at the box office, collecting only ₹1.40cr on its ninth day.
Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, the film has fallen short of the ₹30cr mark due to stiff competition from Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.
Maidaan narrates the tale of India's celebrated football coach, Syed Abdul Rahim, and his tenure with the team from 1952 to 1962.

'Maidaan's total collection stands at ₹29.8cr
According to Sacnilk, Maidaan experienced a 16% increase in collections from Thursday, earning ₹1.45cr on Friday, bringing its total collection to ₹29.8cr.
Per reports, the film's overall nine-day gross collection in India stands at ₹35.50cr.
On Friday, Maidaan recorded a 12.17% Hindi occupancy rate, with night shows seeing the highest turnout at 18.71%.
This occupancy rate surpassed that of BMCM, which recorded a meager 9.49% Hindi occupancy rate.

'Maidaan' and 'BMCM's comparable revenues
Maidaan, which also features Priya Mani and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles, was released on Eid and faces competition from Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff's high-octane actioner BMCM.
While the latter made an impressive ₹15.65cr on its opening day, Maidaan only managed to collect ₹7.1cr (including earnings from paid previews on Wednesday).
After nine days in theaters, both films are now generating similar daily revenues—less than ₹2cr each.

Devgn's upcoming projects after 'Maidaan'
Devgn's Maidaan has seen lower earnings compared to his previous blockbuster hit, Shaitaan, which was released in March.
The occult thriller grossed over ₹208cr worldwide, making it the fourth highest-grossing Indian film and the second highest-grossing Hindi film of 2024.
Now, Devgn is gearing up for his next projects.
He is set to star in Neeraj Pandey's Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, and Rohit Shetty's action-packed sequel, Singham Again, tentatively scheduled for release on August 15.
