NZ all-rounder Rachin Ravindra gears up for India Test series
All-rounder Rachin Ravindra is intensively preparing for New Zealand's forthcoming Test series in India. The youngster, who last played a Test in India in 2021, has since become a key batter for the Kiwis. Notably, Ravindra has been practicing at at the Chennai Super Kings's High-Performance Centre in Chennai. He represented the Yellow Army in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) after being picked by them for ₹1.8 crore.
Training and acclimatization in Chennai

He shared his experiences with The Hindu, stating, "It's been a great few days here in Chennai, being able to acclimatize ourselves." He further explained the unique hurdles faced on the red and black soil pitches, which will prepare the spin-bowling all-rounder for the Test series.
Maiden Test century and upcoming challenges
Ravindra recently achieved his first Test century, against South Africa, in Mount Maunganui, further cementing his position in the team. Looking ahead, New Zealand is scheduled to play six Test matches in the subcontinent over the coming months. These include a one-off game against Afghanistan, two in Sri Lanka, and three in India. Ravindra's role will be crucial for his team's success during these matches.
Ravindra's confidence ahead of India Test series
Ravindra expressed confidence about the upcoming three-match Test series against India, set to take place in Bengaluru, Pune, and Mumbai. The first Test is scheduled for October 16. Despite acknowledging the strength of the Indian team, especially in home conditions, he remains optimistic about New Zealand's chances. He stated that they aim to apply what they learned from their last series here and hopefully give India a run for their money.

New Zealand's rising sensation Ravindra was named the ICC Men's Emerging Cricketer of the Year 2023. Ravindra smashed a whopping 578 runs for the Black Caps in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup at 64.22. It was the highest tally for a New Zealand player at the tournament, with only Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock bettering him.
