    What's the story

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the dates for the 2025 World Test Championship final.

The one-off Test match is scheduled to take place at Lord's, a prestigious cricket ground in London, from June 11 to June 15, with an additional reserve day on June 16 if necessary.

This marks the first time that Lord's will host the World Test Championship final.

The first two editions of the World Test Championship final were held at The Oval in 2021 and 2023, with New Zealand and Australia emerging as champions respectively.

India were the runners-up in both editions.

The upcoming match will be contested by the top two teams in the standings at the end of this cycle.

Currently, Team India is leading under Rohit Sharma's captaincy, followed by reigning champions Australia.

Several teams still in contention for WTC final

Despite India's current lead, there are still many points up for grabs.

Teams including New Zealand (third), England (fourth), Sri Lanka (fifth), South Africa (sixth) and Bangladesh (seventh) remain strong contenders for a spot in the one-off decider.

The final match of the World Test Championship promises to be an exciting event with several teams vying for the top two positions.
