India beat West Indies in fourth ODI: Here're records broken
India handed West Indies one of the biggest defeats in the history of ODI in the fourth match of the series at the Brabourne Stadium. Courtesy of tons by Rohit Sharma (162) and Ambati Rayudu (100), India posted a mammoth target of 378 runs. In reply, West Indies folded rather sheepishly for 153 runs. Here are the records broken in this one-sided affair.
Sharma-Dhawan one of the greatest opening pairs
For India, the pair of Rohit and Shikhar Dhawan now has the second highest number of ODI runs (3,986) for the first wicket. They have gone past 3,919 runs amassed by the pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag. They are just behind Ganguly-Tendulkar, who have 6,609 runs between them. Rohit is the fourth quickest to slam 21 ODI tons, taking only 186 innings.
Sharma in a league of his own
Sharma has become the first batsman to score an ODI century at Brabourne. He is the second quickest opener behind Amla (102 innings) to get to 19 ODI tons, taking 107 innings. Sharma is second to only Dhoni in terms of the number of ODI sixes hit by an Indian batsman, with 198 maximums to his name. Dhoni has 218 sixes to his name.
Rayudu has scripted a unique record
Since 2015 ICC World Cup, Ambati Rayudu is the third Indian batsman to score a century coming in at number four. Earlier, Manish Pandey (104* against Australia at Sydney in 2016) and Yuvraj Singh (150 against England at Cuttack in 2017) had slammed the tons.
Rohit Sharma is at the top, quite literally
