Kohli breaks Sachin's record, becomes fastest to 10,000 ODI runs
Virat Kohli has been in extraordinary form in 2018 and is in the best of touches with the bat. In the second ODI, Kohli notched another record, as he took the least number of innings (205) to score 10,000 runs in ODIs. He eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar's record, who had taken 259 innings. He was lucky to get a life when he was on 44.
Kohli 5th Indian to reach the milestone
Kohli, who started the match in Visakhapatnam at 9,919 ODI runs, got the 81 runs needed to get past 10,000-run mark in the format. Kohli also became the fifth Indian to reach this milestone. In 205 innings, till date, Kohli has 36 tons and 49 half-centuries. His average is close to 59 in this format, whereas, he has a decent strike-rate of 90+.
Kohli joins an illustrious list of cricketers
Kohli became only the 13th player in history of the game to get past 10,000 runs in ODIs. Sachin (18,246) leads the list. Besides Sachin, three Indians are in this illustrious list. Sourav Ganguly (11,363), Rahul Dravid (10,889) and MS Dhoni (10,123) are the other three. Kohli joined these legendary players alongside several former world class players.

Kohli also went past England duo Jason Roy (894) and Joe Root (946) in terms of ODI runs scored in this year. He is only behind Jonny Bairstow (1,025). Kohli is also the highest scorer in Tests this year. He has 1,063 runs in Tests in 2018. Kohli has smashed 4 hundreds and 4 fifties at an average of 59.05.
Kohli, Rayudu guided India to safety
India were reduced to 40/2, before Kohli and Ambati Rayudu got the side to safety. The duo negotiated West Indies bowlers well and rotated the strike beautifully. India are going at a decent run-rate and credit goes to the two experienced batsmen.
Kohli notches this record as well
Kohli also went past Sachin Tendulkar in sealing the most number of ODI runs for India against WI. Sachin had 1,573 runs in ODIs and Kohli surpassed the master's record. Kohli also became the fastest Indian player to get to 4,000+ runs at home in ODIs in terms of innings. Kohli (78 innings) went past Sachin Tendulkar (92 innings) and MS Dhoni (100 innings).
