    What's the story

Xiaomi has started releasing the MIUI 10 Global Stable ROM update for the Redmi Note 5 Pro in India.

Reports suggest the update is about 580MB in size and has a build number MIUI 10.0.1.0.OEIMIFH.

However, not everyone will receive it just yet, given the update is being rolled out in a phased manner via OTA (Over-the-air) method.

    Here's everything to know.

    New UI

MIUI 10 update brings gesture support, redesigned notification panel

The updated MIUI 10, based on Android Oreo 8.1, brings a host of new features and improvements.

According to its changelog, the update brings full-screen gestures, redesigned notification panel, a new Recent apps menu, natural and ambient sounds for alert tones and overall system optimizations.

Further, the MIUI 10 update also brings Google's Android Security Patch for the month of September.

    Process

Here's how to install MIUI 10

The MIUI 10 is an OTA update, and hence not everyone will receive it at the same time.

However, you can check for the update by going to Settings -> About phone -> System updates -> Check for updates.

Alternatively, you can download the update through the Updater app.

Notably, flashing/sideload is not possible as Xiaomi is yet to provide Recovery and Fastboot ROMs.

    Specs

Recalling the 'fastest Redmi Note phone ever'

Just to recall, Note 5 Pro features a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ display with a unibody metal design, a massive 4,000mAh battery and runs MIUI 9 on top of Android Nougat (out-of-the-box).

It is powered by Snapdragon 636 processor coupled with 4GB/6GB RAM options and 64GB internal storage which is expandable via microSD card.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset makes it the "fastest Redmi Note ever".

    Camera specs

Redmi Note 5 Pro features iPhone X-like dual rear camera

In terms of optics, the smartphone sports a dual-camera setup featuring a 12-megapixel with f/2.2 aperture primary sensor and a 5-megapixel with f/2.0 aperture secondary sensor.

On the front, the smartphone gets a stunning 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 sensor along with a LED selfie-light module.

Moreover, the MIUI 10 update will introduce AI-based Portrait mode and add the ability to record 1080p videos at 60fps.
