    What's the story

    Indian Railways is going felicitate the locomotive pilot (engine driver) Virender Singh and senior assistant loco pilot Abhay Kumar of the Mumbai-bound Duronto Express that recently derailed near Asangaon.

    The train's engine and nine coaches derailed, but there were no casualties thanks to the alert loco pilots' quick action and management of the situation that prevented a disaster.

    Thane: 33-year-old building dangerously tilts; residents evacuated

    The Thane Municipal Corporation evacuated a 33-year-old, four-storied building "Noorani Mahal" that dangerously tilted in Mumbra.

    The residents weren't willing to move out, so officials forcefully evacuated them; the building began leaning over 15 days ago.

    Contrary to the residents' claims, civic authorities said a notice about the building's dangerous condition was earlier served.

    The residents are now demanding accommodation in rental homes.

    Bhendi Bazaar: Friends gather funds to send deceased's body home

    After the 117-year Hussaini building collapsed in Mumbai's Bhendi Bazaar, claiming Bahu Ali's life, a group of his friends collected Rs. 25,000 to send the body to his family by flight. Ali, a hawker, used to stay in the building's ground floor godown.

    After receiving 14,121 loan waiver applications from Mumbai farmers, Maharashtra-government'>Maharashtra Government is confused considering there are no farmlands in the megapolis.

    Government sources believe mandating Aadhaar card for waivers could be the reason behind this; farmers must have got their cards made in Mumbai while their farms are in other districts.

    Income Tax Returns: Maharashtra files most number of ITRs

    Maharashtra emerged as the state with the highest number of individuals/entities filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs) through the Income Tax department's e-filing system between 1 Apr-5 Aug'17. Maharashtra accounted for nearly 49.65 lakh, or 17.5%, of the total 2.82 crore ITR filings.

    "Allah wala bakra" priced at whopping Rs. 51L remains unsold

    Ajmer's Gopalrao Sohail came to Mumbai to sell "Allah wala bakra", a white goat with brown patches, for Bakri Eid.

    The goat has Arabic symbols of Allah on one side of neck and Mohammed on the other, Amin under right ear, and moon and star under left ear.

    Even after reducing the price from Rs. 1,00,00,786 to Rs. 51,00,786, the goat found no buyers.

    Mumbai: International business school director booked on molestation charges

    Mumbai's Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) police have booked the director of a US-based international business school for molesting and outraging the modesty of a 31-year-old woman employee.

    The accused molested the victim using vulgar language and making obscene gestures between Jan-Aug'16 in the office.

    The victim earlier approached a women's organization; the business school has six campuses across the globe.
