    What's the story

With our increasingly packed work schedules, unhealthy lifestyle habits, and perpetually falling air quality, our mental health is bound to take a toll.

It's no wonder that mental health issues like stress, anxiety, and depression, are on the rise.

However, your residential space doesn't have to be stressing.

Here are five home decor tips for a calming and relaxing atmosphere.

    #1

    Clear the clutter

The more you stuff your house with unnecessary items, the higher would be your chances of getting stressed out.

Further, if your furniture and other items are kept in a haphazard fashion, you are obviously inviting more trouble.

That's why, we suggest you to go minimalist, and get rid of the clutter.

This will surely help you stay more relaxed.

    #2

    Opt for neutral tones

If you wish to reduce stress, you need to clear up distractions from your surroundings, and get rid of extremes.

So, when it comes to choosing shades for your walls or other items, go for neutral shades, such as light grey, powder blue, off-white, blush pink, and so on.

We say so because these shades are more calming than their darker counterparts.

    #3

    Go for greenery

Green surroundings could prove to be therapeutic to people suffering from mental issues.

So, try and plant more indoor plants in your house.

They will not only add a generous amount of oxygen to your abode, but will also help lighten your mood and reduce chances of anxiety and depression.

You could also consider maintaining a home garden.

    #4,5

Allow more natural light; Cover up excessive technology

Lighting: Leave plenty of openings to let natural light enter freely. Further, as far as lighting is concerned, go for warm and mellow options so that you aren't troubled by your own choice of lighting.

Technology: Even looking at appliances and machines for a long duration can bring stress and anxiety. So, stack up such items in the cupboards. Also, keep the wires hidden.
