    What's the story

The Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) offers passengers the facility of changing boarding stations online through its e-ticketing website.

The users can change their boarding point by logging in to their IRCTC accounts and following a set of easy steps.

Here's how you can change your train boarding station online through the IRCTC website.

    Procedure

Steps for changing your boarding point online

Log in to your IRCTC account using your login ID and password.

Select 'Booking Ticket History'. Next, select the appropriate train journey for which you want to change the boarding point.

Now, click on 'Change Boarding Point' button.

Finally, you'll be redirected to the Change Boarding Station page. Now select new boarding station of your choice from the drop-down menu, and you're done.

    Key points (1)

Rules about time gap, mode of booking, original boarding point

    1) Passengers can change their boarding stations online though the IRCTC website at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the train.

    2) The facility is available for passengers who've booked their tickets online, not through agent or PRS.

    3) Once the passengers change their boarding point, they lose their right to board the train from the original point of boarding.

    Key points (2)

About number of changes, non-allowance of boarding point change

    4) Change of boarding point is permitted only once by IRCTC.

    5) If a ticket is seized, boarding point change is not allowed.

    6) Change of boarding point is not permitted for PNRs with the Vikalp option.

    7) Additionally, boarding point change is also not allowed for current booking tickets, and I-Tickets.
