    What's the story

Deadpool is our favorite mercenary with a mouth.

From his love for chimichangas, guns, and violence to expertly breaking the fourth wall and using pop cultural references, Deadpool is quite unlike any other comic character we have known.

His misadventures make for some of the funniest Marvel comics.

However, here are five lesser known facts about Deadpool that make him all the more fascinating.

    Do you know?

The sad but fascinating journey of Deadpool

Deadpool was apparently born Wade Wilson, a proud Canadian. After being kicked out of the army, he joined the Weapon X program, which gave him the regenerative powers of Wolverine. Though his exact back-story is debatable, he first appeared in 'New Mutants' in February 1991.

    Character inspiration

    Is it a rip-off or a homage? It's Deadpool!

Slade Wilson and Wade Wilson are two of the most dangerous DC and Marvel mercenaries.

Deathstroke is a serious Vietnam war vet, who becomes a deadly assassin with a suit that can heal wounds. His first DC appearance was in 1980 as the archenemy of the Teen Titans.

Deadpool, the witty mercenary, created by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, drew inspiration from this character.

    Tom Cruise's face

The time Deadpool became a pretty boy

Wade is famous for his scarred and ugly face. However, in Deadpool Volume 1, issue 37, he is cursed by the 'God of Mischief', Loki.

The curse makes his face look like Tom Cruise. However, the comics renamed it Thom Cruz, to avoid legal troubles.

Deadpool, however, is displeased with his pretty face and resorts to violent means to get back his old face.

    Death

If you thought your girlfriends were cool, check Deadpool's

Remember mad titan Thanos who wrecked havoc in Infinity War? He did it all for Death.

Yes, Death is personified as a woman in the Marvel Universe. Irrespective of how things worked out between them, our own Deadpool dated Death for some time.

One can see the attraction between Death herself and someone who cannot die.

And you thought your love life was exciting!

    Infinity Gauntlet

The best use of the Infinity Gauntlet

Deadpool once stole Infinity Gauntlet of Thanos. However, he didn't use it for world domination.

Instead, he used it to get back at the entire Marvel Universe through a comic roast.

However, when characters like Hulk, Daredevil, Spider-Man, and Cable began roasting Deadpool instead, he used the gauntlet's power to enchant the audience at his humor.

This remains one of the gauntlet's weirdest uses.

    Killustrated

    Literature to the slaughterhouse

Deadpool is notorious for figuring out he is a comic character existing for readers' amusement.

In the Killogy series, he wished to free all characters from this constraint. As a result, he single-handedly killed the entire Marvel universe.

Still dissatisfied, he went on to kill iconic literary characters like Captain Ahab and Tom Sawyer.

Ultimately, he decided to kill the writers to free himself.
