    What's the story

    Central crime branch along with railway police detained more than 200 children aged between 13-15 years at Bengaluru railway station.

    The children had travelled to Bengaluru from Guwahati. A passenger had tipped off police about huge number of Bangladeshi children getting trafficked to Bengaluru.

    After enquiries, police found out that they were students of Madrassas.

    IISc researchers to arm India with Tsunami detection tool

    In a collaborative study, researchers from Indian Institute of Science (IISc) are working on Tsunami detection tool that can predict tsunami and measure its potential, thereby, facilitating evacuation and preventing casualties.

    "We are developing a software tool that can provide physical and mathematical basis to predict the likelihood of a tsunami and its reach at distant shores," said Debasish Roy, project researcher.

    Minor girl gang raped by 3 bus drivers

    Police arrested three bus drivers/conductors for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old girl from Udupi.

    The victim, who was visiting a friend, was waiting at the bus stand in Ranebennur. According to her, one of the accused, Raghavendra, lured her to an empty bus at the depot and sexually assaulted her. After him, she was raped by the other two accused.

    A case has been registered.

    SC allows state govts to denotify highways within cities

    In a major relief to Bengaluru's bar and pub owners, the Supreme Court allowed state governments to denotify highways that run within the city limits.

    741 establishments had shutdown following SC's ban on alcohol sale within 500 m of highways.

    According to bar owners, this move will save businesses of numerous outlets, jobs of employees and improve significant share of Karnataka government's revenue.

    Greenwood High International school students have developed iBeeHive, a device that enables the beekeeper to keep tabs on the health of bees and also kill pests infesting the hive. Connected with the cellphone, it can fit into any beehive.

    The six students bagged the second spot at the first LEGO League International Open Championship 2017 for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) skills.

    Belarus company proposes to build Pod transport system

    With tenders already afloat for Pod transport system, Belarus-based Skyway company met Bengaluru in charge minister K J George and presented its product which is on the lines of Pod.

    The company even invited a delegation to Belarus to gain first-hand experience of their product.

    BBMP intends to provide last-mile connectivity to and fro metro via POD taxi systems on six identified routes.
