    What's the story

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has departed from China to Myanmar after an eventful BRICS summit.

Watched closely by observers around the world, India shone at this annual five-nation meeting.

Getting Pakistan's terror groups named in the BRICS declaration and reconciling with China were resounding diplomatic victories.

Moreover, they were symbolic as it represented instances where China yielded to India.

    Let's see what India achieved!

China has consistently thwarted India's attempts at the UN to designate Jaish-e-Mohammad chief, Masood Azhar, a global terrorist.

Ahead of the summit, China sharply warned India against raising Pakistan's safe havens for terrorism for discussion at the summit.

Yet, it had to endorse a declaration which mentioned organizations including JeM and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

In a thumping diplomatic victory, India, in effect, made China yield.

Modi-Xi meeting charts a peaceful course forward

The Modi-Xi Jinping meeting is the final masterstroke in India's bid to diplomatically resolve the Doklam standoff.

The meeting outcome in effect charted the course forward for peaceful Sino-Indian relations following the standoff.

Xi further conveyed that China would work with India, as per the Panchsheel Principles concerning peaceful coexistence (1954).

Both countries also set goals to maintain "peace and tranquility at the border."

    10 noble commitments

India lays down pointers to bring about global transformation

Speaking at the Dialogue of Emerging Markets and Developing Countries, PM Modi passionately urged the BRICS nations to follow the "10 noble commitments" and play a role in global transformation.

He called for concerted action on climate change through initiatives such as the International Solar Alliance.

Modi further offered India's partnership to enhance cooperation, and support each other's efforts to realize the 10 commitments.

    Analysis

India has a long way to remove China-Pakistan obstructions

India has used the BRICS summit to highlight its interests and boost its international image. However, India still has a long way to go for these achievements to yield solid benefits.

India must keep employing various diplomatic and other means to remove obstructions from China and Pakistan altogether.

India must also move ahead with proper arrangements with these nations towards achieving common goals.
