    Suryakumar Yadav congratulates Rohit Sharma for Champions Trophy win

    India's T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, has openly lauded his ODI and Test counterpart, Rohit Sharma, after India's glorious Champions Trophy win in Dubai.

    The Indian side clinched their third Champions Trophy title by beating New Zealand by four wickets.

    Despite being criticized about his captaincy skills ahead of the tournament, Rohit led the side with a stellar show and scored an impressive 76 runs in the final match.

    Suryakumar defends Rohit, praises his approach

    Ahead of the final, Suryakumar had defended Rohit amid criticism.

    After the victory, he took to Instagram to post a series of photos of Rohit celebrating their Champions Trophy win.

    He captioned it: "Our captain does it, again! Good things happen to good people, and @rohitsharma45 is one of the nicest, most supportive and approachable people out there. Congratulations on adding another feather to your massively decorated hat, B-RO!"

    Match performance

    Rohit's aggressive approach leads India to victory

    In the final match against New Zealand, Rohit continued his aggressive playstyle.

    He was pivotal in India's chase of a target score of 252 runs.

    Joining Shubman Gill for the first wicket, they added 105 runs and laid a strong foundation for India's innings.

    Rohit smashed seven fours and three sixes during his innings off 83 balls, helping India win with an over to spare.

    Future plans

    Rohit confirms intention to continue ODI career

    Rohit quashed rumors of his retirement from ODIs at the press conference after the match.

    "I am not going anywhere, I am not retiring from this format," Rohit said.

    His statement came after speculations rifed that the 38-year-old might retire with the next ICC ODI tournament being two years away, the 2027 World Cup.

    Notably, he has already retired from T20Is.
