    KL Rahul becomes third-fastest Indian to 3,000 ODI runs: Stats

    India's star cricketer KL Rahul has become the third-fastest Indian to complete 3,000 ODI runs.

    He achieved the feat during the first semi-final of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy against Australia in Dubai.

    Rahul came into this match, requiring just 33 runs to reach the landmark.

    Meanwhile, he also went past 5,000 runs in List A cricket with his 23rd run.

    Rahul's 42*(35) helped India chase down 265 against Australia in Dubai.

    Third-fastest Indian to get the milestone 

    As per ESPNcricinfo, Rahul took just 78 innings to complete 3,000 ODI runs. Among Indians, only Shikhar Dhawan (72) and Virat Kohli (75) have reached the milestone faster. Notably, Kohli and Dhawan are top-order batters, while most of Rahul's runs have come while operating at number four or below.

    Rahul's journey to 3,000 ODI runs

    In his ODI career of 84 matches, Rahul has gone past 3,000 runs at an impressive average of 48.53.

    His record features seven centuries and 18 half-centuries with a top score of 112.

    As per ESPNcricinfo, this puts him behind only Virat Kohli (58), MS Dhoni (50.57), and Rohit Sharma (48.64) in terms of average among Indian batsmen with over 3,000 ODI runs.

    Rahul's ODI debut: A historic century

    Rahul made his ODI debut against Zimbabwe in 2016, scoring a century. This makes him the only Indian cricketer to have scored a hundred on ODI debut.

    Despite being an opener for most of his career, Rahul has also produced stunning performances at the number five position.

    The star batter has also been doubling up as a keeper in ODIs in the last few years.

    Out of Rahul's overall ODI runs, 1,473 have come in India, in 37 matches.

    He has an incredible average of 52.60 and a strike rate of 91.60 while playing at home. The star batter has scored nine fifties and three hundreds at home.

    Only Rohit, Kohli, Shubman Gill, and Shreyas Iyer have tallied more runs in India since Rahul's maiden ODI appearance in the country in January 2017.

    Rahul's performance away from home 

    Rahul has scored 879 of his ODI runs in 32 away matches, with six fifties and two hundreds to his name.

    In neutral venues, he has scored 657 runs in 15 matches at an impressive average of 65.70.

    Notably, Rahul averages 53-plus while batting at number four or lower in ODIs.

    Over 1,500 of his runs have come as a designated wicket-keeper.

    As mentioned, Rahul also raced past 5,000 in List A cricket. He made his List A debut in the 2010 Vijay Hazare Trophy.

    Playing his 136th match, Rahul averages 46.04 in the format as his strike rate is in excess of 82 (82.11).

    The tally includes 11 tons and as many as 31 fifties. 131 reads his highest score in the format.

    He has raced to 5,019 runs in the 50-over format.
