    What's the story

Young Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has received fitness clearance from the National Cricket Academy (NCA), now the BCCI Centre of Excellence.

The Andhra Pradesh-born cricketer is set to join Sunrisers Hyderabad's (SRH) camp for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season.

Reddy had been sidelined due to a side strain injury sustained after the first T20I against England in January.

According to PTI, Reddy completed all the fitness test routines, including the yo-yo test.

    Rising star

Reddy's journey and IPL 2024 success

Reddy burst onto the scenes in IPL 2024, where he was named the Emerging Player.

He amassed 303 runs at an impressive average of 33.66 and a strike rate of 142.92 while also taking three wickets in 13 matches.

His stellar performances played a key role in SRH reaching the finals, though they ultimately fell short against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

    Rising star

    Reddy's international debut and achievements

After his successful IPL stint, Reddy was called up to the national team.

He made his T20I debut against Bangladesh and later took part in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 against Australia, where he was India's second-highest run-scorer.

The 21-year-old also scored his maiden century during a Boxing Day match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

    Team lineup

    SRH's roster and upcoming fixtures

Before the IPL 2025 mega-auction, SRH retained Reddy in their squad.

The team now includes stars like Pat Cummins, Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Mohammed Shami, and Ishan Kishan.

SRH will kick off their season against the Rajasthan Royals on March 23 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.

After finishing as runners-up in 2024, the Cummins-led side hopes to clinch its second trophy since 2016.

    Numbers

Reddy's IPL and overall T20 numbers

The all-rounder made his IPL debut in 2023 but featured in just two matches but was wicketless and also didn't score any runs.

As mentioned, in the 2024 season, he scored 303 runs in 15 matches at an average of 33.67, while striking at 142.92.

He also managed two fifties and a high score of 76*. With the ball he bagged three wickets across 13 matches.

According to ESPNcricinfo, he now owns 485 runs in 18 T20 innings at 32.33.
