    What's the story

    Virat Kohli shone in his 400th T20 match. The 36-year-old batter hit an unbeaten 59 versus Kolkata Knight Riders for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the Indian Premier League 2025 season opener at Eden Gardens.

    Chasing 175 runs, Kohli starred for RCB. He added 95 runs with Phil Salt and another 44-run stand alongside Rajat Patidar as RCB won by 7 wickets.

    As mentioned, Salt and Kohli added 95 runs for the opening wicket.

    80 runs were added in the PP overs which is now RCB's 2nd-highest powerplay total in the IPL and their best against KKR.

    After Salt departed, Kohli continued his good work as RCB were in control.

    Patidar, who came in at number 4, formed a solid stand with Kohli.

    98th fifty for Kohli in T20s

    Kohli smashed 59* runs from 36 balls. He hit four fours and three sixes.

    Notably, Kohli's knock took him to 12,945 runs in T20s (50s: 98, 100s: 9). He now owns 107 fifty-plus scores.

    8,063 of his T20 runs have come in the IPL at an average of 38.95. This was his 56th fifty (100s: 8).

    Kohli has now raced to 1,021 runs versus KKR at 40.84 (100s: 1, 50s: 7). He became the 3rd batter after David Warner and Rohit Sharma to score 1,000-plus runs versus KKR.
