    What's the story

Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya is gearing up for the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy with a resolve to replicate his 2022 T20 World Cup heroics against Pakistan.

The all-rounder said he was ready to take on the pressure and focus on team goals.

"It is just about who handles pressure better," he stated in an interview shared by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Wednesday.

    Here's more.

    Game plan

    Pandya's strategy for high-pressure games

Pandya intends to use his skills and game sense to make a difference in India's matches from February 20.

"I don't play for Hardik Pandya; I play for the team. I play for India—that's the goal," he stressed.

The all-rounder then added, "Whether that means playing just two balls at the end or batting for 60 balls, the focus is on taking the game ball by ball and getting closer to victory."

Meanwhile, India take on Pakistan on February 23.

    Match reminiscence

Pandya reflects on 2022 T20 World Cup

Reflecting on India's thrilling four-wicket win over Pakistan in the 2022 T20 World Cup, Pandya discussed his three-wicket haul and how he managed the intense pressure of the high-stakes match.

"When I entered the field and saw the atmosphere—the kind of energy the fans and spectators were bringing—it was just amazing," he recalled.

He further added, stating, "Even though I have played many games, it was overwhelming in a way that made me both excited and happy."

    Tactical insights

Pandya's approach to bowling and fielding

Pandya revealed his plan during the match, saying he backed his strengths and was smart about it.

He then confessed about getting excited and stated, "I got a little too excited by the Australian bounce and the wicket."

However, during his second spell, he realized that focusing on delivering good balls was crucial.

"I have always been someone who relies on good length and lines—that is my strength," he said.
