    What's the story

South Africa has included all-rounder Corbin Bosch in their 15-member squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.

The decision comes after Anrich Nortje was injured and had to be replaced.

The tournament will be held in Pakistan and UAE starting from February 19.

This isn't South Africa's first injury setback, as Gerald Coetzee is already sidelined with a groin issue.

    Here's more.

    Player profile

Bosch's performance and additional squad changes

The 30-year-old Bosch made his ODI debut against Pakistan in December.

Despite a challenging start, conceding 69 runs in nine overs for one wicket, he emerged as a standout seamer during MI Cape Town's SA20 championship campaign.

He bagged 11 scalps in eight SA20 matches, at an average of 17.36.

Additionally, SA have added another pacer in the form of Kwena Maphaka as a traveling reserve.

The decision comes amid injury concerns for Beuran Hendricks and Lizaad Williams.

    Stats

A look at Bosch's stats in List A cricket

Bosch has amassed 547 runs at an average of 39.07 across 32 List A matches.

Meanwhile, across 25 innings, he boasts a strike rate worth 101.48, including three fifties. His highest score is 79*. 40 of his List A runs have come for SA.

However, with the ball, he has bagged 38 scalps at an average of 38.13, with an economy rate of 5.94. His best innings read 4/69 alongside one four-wicket haul.

    Squad update

Bosch, Maphaka, and De Zorzi join SA squad in Pakistan

Bosch, Maphaka, and opener Tony de Zorzi are set to depart for Karachi on Sunday.

They will join the South African squad for the remaining matches of the tri-nation ODI series against Pakistan and New Zealand.

Additionally, this series comes as an important preparation phase before the ICC Champions Trophy starts later this month.

    Staff addition

Yasir Arafat joins SA's support staff for upcoming series

In other news, former Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat has joined South Africa's men's support staff.

He will serve as a consultant for the tri-nation series and the Champions Trophy.

The strategic move is aimed at bolstering South Africa's performance in the upcoming cricket events, especially since they have witnessed a recent squad change due to injuries.
