    What's the story

The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 promises to be an electrifying affair, co-hosted by Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.

The tournament will take place from February 19 to March 9, marking the return of one of cricket's most anticipated global competitions.

Bowlers will play a pivotal role in the tournament.

Ahead of the tourney, we decode bowlers who can be contenders for most wickets.

    #1

    Shaheen Afridi - Pakistan

Shaheen Afridi will be a threat for teams with his wicket-taking prowess.

The left-arm pacer picked 15 wickets from six matches in 2024 at 17.60.

Afridi was amongst the wickets (3/88) in Pakistan's ODI tri-series opener against New Zealand as well on Saturday.

Overall, Afridi has collected 122 wickets in 60 ODIs at 23.29.

28 of his wickets have come on home soil.

    #2

    Mitchell Starc - Australia

Australia are in a spot of bother ahead with pacers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood ruled out with injuries.

Pace-bowling all-rouner Marcus Stoinis announced retirement and Mitchell Marsh got ruled out.

With their personnel depleted, the onus is now on champion performer Mitchell Starc.

Starc has 244 ODI scalps at 23.40. A big-tournament player, Starc has 65 wickets in ODI World Cups at 19.29.

    #3

    Matt Henry - New Zealand

New Zealand pacer Matt Henry can be one of the contenders for the most wickets among bowlers. He has seen a rapid progression in his career.

Henry leads the Kiwi pacer attack and will be a threat. He picked 3/53 in the ODI tri-series opener against Pakistan on Saturday in his side's win.

Overall, Henry has managed 153 wickets in 86 ODIs at 25.28.

    #4

    Ravindra Jadeja - India

Left-arm spin-bowling all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, can spice things up with his tidy lengths and accuracy.

Jadeja owns close to 225 ODI wickets at over 35. In the ongoing ODI series against England, Jadeja picked a three-fer in the first ODI.

With India set to play their matches in Dubai, Jadeja has a decent record here. In 4 matches, he has 7 scalps at 22.28.

    #5

    Rashid Khan - Afghanistan

Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan is one of the best white-ball bowlers. The champion T20 bowler is also a massive threat in ODIs.

Rashid is closing in on 200 wickets in ODIs. He has 198 scalps from 111 matches at a sensational 19.87.

The right-arm wrist-spinner owns 124 scalps in Asia itself at 19.53 from 66 matches. His economy rate is 4.09.
