    Pakistani cricketer Asif Ali's daughter passes away: Details here

    What's the story

    Pakistani cricketer Asif Ali lost his two-year-old daughter in a battle with cancer.

    The child was fighting stage IV cancer. She was undergoing treatment at a hospital in the United States.

    Ali, who was seen in the ODI series versus England recently, is set to return back to Pakistan following the tragic loss.

    Here are the details.

    Stage IV cancer

    Noor Fatima was fighting stage IV cancer

    Ali's daughter Noor Fatima was fighting stage IV cancer.

    She was taken to the US ahead of the series against England.

    "My daughter is fighting the stage IV cancer and we are taking her to US for her treatment," Ali had tweeted before the series started.

    He had also thanked the US authorities for issuing a visa to his daughter on a short notice.

    Asif featured against England, but isn't part of CWC squad

    Ali played in all the four ODIs against England after the first game was washed out.

    He amassed scores of 51, 52, 17 and 22.

    The 27-year-old wasn't named in Pakistan's 15-man provisional squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2019.

    Although, he can be included within May 23.

    It remains to be seen what the Pakistan Cricket Board decides given the circumstances.

    Condolences pour in for Asif Ali's daughter

    The talented cricketer has so far played 16 ODIs for Pakistan. He has amassed 342 runs at an average of 31.09. Post his daughter's death, both fans and cricketers offered condolences. One hopes that Asif gets the strength to cope with this loss.
