    What's the story

Xiaomi's latest budget-range offering, the Redmi Note 6 Pro, happens to be one of the best-selling smartphones in India.

However, ASUS is set to challenge Xiaomi with its ZenFone Max Pro M2.

The phone, which comes as a major upgrade over its predecessor, is scheduled to launch in India on December 11.

But which one is worth your money?

    Here's our head-to-head comparison.

    Design

    At a glance

Up front, both the phones sport an edge-to-edge notched display. However, with a slightly smaller display cut-out, the ASUS smartphone offers a screen-to-body of about 83% as compared to near 81% on Redmi Note 6 Pro.

On the back, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 gets a glossy glass-like finish whereas Note 6 Pro has a metallic casing.

Winner: ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2.

    Display

    All about the screen

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 sports a 6.3-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 400ppi density.

In comparison, Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a 6.26-inch full-HD+ (1080x2280 pixels) display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 402ppi pixel density.

However, the ASUS smartphone comes with industry-leading Gorilla Glass 6 protection which is a segment-first feature.

Winner: ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2.

    Primary Camera

    For the shutterbugs

The ZenFone Max Pro M2 comes with an improved dual-camera setup comprising a 12MP (f/1.8) Sony IMX486 sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor.

On the other hand, the Redmi Note 6 Pro sports a 12MP+5MP dual camera setup with an f/1.9 aperture, Dual-Pixel PDAF, and LED flash.

Winner: Tie, given both the phones have nearly the same camera optics.

    Selfie Camera

    For the love of Selfies

As far as the selfie game is concerned, Redmi Note Pro 6 has an upper hand with its dual front-camera setup comprising a 20MP (f/2.0) primary sensor with 1.8-micron pixels and a 2MP depth sensor.

In comparison, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 comes with a 13MP (f/2.0) selfie camera with a dedicated LED flash module.

    Winner: Redmi Note Pro 6.

    Internals

    All the important stuff

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, paired with up to 6GB of RAM (in India) and 64GB of storage (expandable upto 256GB).

Further, the Redmi Note 6 Pro offers a 4,000mAh battery whereas the ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2 comes with a massive 5,000mAh battery.

Winner: ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2.

    Information

    Pricing: The key factor

The Redmi Note 6 Pro costs Rs. 13,999 for the 4GB/64GB variant and Rs. 15,999 for the 6GB/64GB model. In comparison, the ZenFone Max Pro M2 has been launched in Russia at 17,990 Rubles (approx. Rs. 19,140) for the 4GB/64GB configuration.

    Our result

    How things stack up!

The Redmi Note 6 Pro is a best seller owing to its attractive price, impressive cameras and an overall appealing package.

However, while pricing remains the key, the upcoming ASUS smartphone is a better option. It offers a trendier design, best-in-class features like Gorilla Glass 6 protection and 5,000mAh battery, good cameras, and a more powerful Snapdragon processor.

Winner: ASUS ZenFone Max Pro M2.
