    What's the story

OnePlus has started rolling out OxygenOS 9.0.6 update for its latest OnePlus 6T flagship.

The update comes with a bunch of features including improved Screen Unlock feature (company's name for in-display fingerprint scanning technology) and optimized image processing.

Notably, this incremental update comes weeks after OnePlus released OxygenOS 9.0.5 to refine Screen Unlock feature and fix general bugs.

    Here's more about it.

Everything to know about Oxygen 9.0.6 update

The OxygenOS 9.0.6 update has a size of around 200MB and is being rolled out in a phased manner via over-the-air method.

As per the changelog, the update offers improved unlocking experience, optimized standby power consumption, image processing, and general improvements.

Additionally, the update also fixes issues related to Google Play Store notifications and problems in adding APN on Verizon network.

    Design

    Meanwhile, here's a look at OnePlus 6T

OnePlus 6T features a downsized waterdrop-like notched display with a marginally slimmer bottom bezel as seen on the OnePlus 6, to boast an increased screen-to-body ratio of 86%.

With the new notch, the notification LED light has been killed.

On the rear, there's a dual-camera setup housed in a glass panel but no dedicated scanner - thanks to the all-new in-display fingerprint sensor.

Screen Unlock: OnePlus 6T's highlight feature

OnePlus 6T comes with an optical in-display fingerprint scanner - something we've seen on a few smartphones now.

The display lights up a section where you position your finger; the optical sensor reads and authenticates your fingerprint from beneath the screen.

And while OnePlus claims this feature will unlock the device in 0.35 seconds, you will have a few hits and misses.

    Camera

For the shutterbugs and selfie lovers

OnePlus 6T sports a dual rear-camera setup comprising a 16-megapixel (f/1.7) main sensor, paired with a 20-megapixel (f/1.7) secondary sensor and LED flash - same as OnePlus 6.

However, the company has offered an improved Portrait mode and an all-new Nightscene which offers better images in low-light.

Up front, the 6T retains its predecessor's 16MP (f/2.0) RGB camera that assists Face unlock feature.

    Internals

    Under the hood

Internally, the OnePlus 6T is same as the OnePlus, except for a bigger battery and new OS.

It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, paired with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of non-expandable storage.

The phone packs 3,700mAh battery with support for 20W Dash Charge and runs Android Pie-based Oxygen OS 9.0.3 that offers revamped gesture-based navigation.

The flagship is now available in Thunder Purple, Mirror Black, and Midnight Black colors.
