OnePlus 6T: Everything we know about OnePlus 6's successor
What's the story
The OnePlus 6, launched amid a lot of fanfare in May this year, did exceptionally well to beat the likes of Apple and Samsung in India.
And now, OnePlus is expected to continue with its launch policy for the 'T' variant. It is reported that OnePlus 6T would launch around October this year, at least in the US.
Here's everything we know.
Release date
OnePlus 6T: US launch in October, global launch in November
OnePlus has partnered with T-Mobile to launch OnePlus 6T in the US. This is the first time it is happening for the Chinese company.
Further, OnePlus will also sell the standard unlocked global version for other US carriers and other international networks.
The US launch is likely to happen in October while other markets may get the phone by November.
Design & Display
How will the OnePlus 6T look like?
OnePlus is a subsidiary of OPPO Mobiles and that connection has been evident on OnePlus flagships. Exhibit A: OnePlus 5T looked similar to OPPO R11 and OnePlus 6 adopted OPPO R15's front.
Hence, OnePlus 6T is now reported to sport the reinvented notch seen on the OPPO R17/R17 Pro.
Moreover, the display resolution may get upgraded to QHD as against Full-HD+ on OnePlus 6.
Camera
OnePlus 6T may get a triple rear camera setup
Much like the design, OnePlus 6T may also inherit OPPO R17 Pro's triple rear camera module.
It may sport a triple camera module with the primary sensor having a dual variable aperture of f/1.5-f/2.4 - like Galaxy S9/S9+/Note 9.
The second sensor may be used for depth effect while the third sensor could be a 3D camera to enable AR functionality.
Internals
Under the hood
In terms of internals, the OnePlus 6 already packs top-notch specs.
However, given the next iteration of Qualcomm Snapgradon 845, the Snapdragon 855 processor entered mass-production back in June, we expect OnePlus 6T to run the new chipset.
Other expected specs and features include up to 8GB RAM, up to 512GB inbuilt storage, a bigger battery, wireless charging, IP certification and in-display fingerprint sensor.
Pricing
OnePlus 6T is expected to start at $550
According to reports, the price of OnePlus 6T is tentatively set at $550 - a minor increase from OnePlus 6's starting price of $529.
That said, $550 mark is still not finalized.
However, if OnePlus 6T is likely to get a new design, upgraded camera and under the hood updates, we can expect the price to come close to $600.
