Nokia TV v/s Mi TV: Which one should you buy?

    What's the story

As part of a partnership with Flipkart, Nokia has launched its first-ever smart television in India.

The Finnish tech giant's maiden offering takes on Xiaomi's popular Mi TV 4X with a 55-inch 4K LED screen, JBL acoustics with Dolby sound support, and Android TV interface. So, which one should you buy?

    Here's our head-to-head comparison.

    At a glance

Mi TV 4X v/s Nokia TV: Design and display

Design-wise, both TVs look pretty similar, featuring ultra-slim bezels and the non-curved display. However, considering the Nokia TV houses front-firing speakers, it has a seemingly prominent bottom section.

And though both models sport a 55-inch 4K LED screen, the Nokia TV offers improved picture quality thanks to Dolby Vision, Wide Color Gamut coverage, and "Intelligent Dimming" features.

    Winner: Nokia TV.

    Information

Mi TV 4X v/s Nokia TV: Sound

The Mi TV 4X comes with dual 10W speakers along with support for DTS Tru Sound and Dolby Audio. In comparison, the Nokia rival packs more powerful 24W JBL-tuned speakers along with support for Dolby Audio and DTS TruSurround Sound. Winner: Nokia TV.

    Internals

    Under the hood

The Nokia TV is powered by a 1GHz PureX quad-core processor, 2.25GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage while the Mi TV is backed by a quad-core Amlogic Cortex A53 CPU, 2GB RAM and 8GB of built-in storage.

Further, both models run on Android TV 9 operating system and support the latest connectivity options as well as I/O ports.

    Winner: Nokia TV.

    Information

    Pricing: The key factor

The Nokia TV 55-inch is priced at Rs. 41,999 and it will go on sale exclusively via Flipkart on December 10. On the other hand, the Mi 4X 55-inch model costs Rs. 34,999 and is already up for grabs in the country.

    Our verdict

    How things stack up?

With similar bezel-less designs, matching 4k screens, and nearly identical specifications, both models are, in fact, pretty similar.

However, with highlight features such as Dolby Vision, auto-dimming, punchier JBL acoustics, as well as higher onboard memory and storage, the Nokia TV wins the bout.

Winner: Nokia TV, at least on paper.
