After four long years, Apple has launched a new version of its famous music player, the iPod Touch.
The device comes with an improved processor and more storage but still looks similar to the sixth generation iPod Touch.
This means you still get thick bezels around the display and an annoying home button at the bottom.

New iPod Touch is more of an update
The new iPod Touch comes with a faster A10 Fusion chip, the one that comes on the iPhone 7 series, and promises two times faster CPU performance and three times faster graphics rendering.
Now, this might not be a major upgrade but is good enough to power modern iOS experiences, including Group FaceTime, graphic-intensive games, and augmented reality experiences across gaming, education, and browsing.
Storage
Plus, you get enhanced storage capabilities
Along with a faster processor, Apple has also enhanced available storage on the iPod Touch.
The device now comes in three storage options: 32GB, 128GB, and a new 256GB model.
This can give you sufficient room for not just storing Apple Music but also plenty of games and apps. Notably, it could be handy when Apple Arcade game subscription service launches later this year.
Unchanged elements
Everything else remains unchanged
Apart from processor and storage, everything else on the new iPod Touch remains unchanged, even the design.
The player retains thick bezels around the same 4-inch display and has the same camera setup and battery life.
It even features the same iPhone 4-style home button under the display, instead of the newer Touch ID or Face ID technologies.
Price
However, this keeps the price low
The strategy of improving power instead of other capabilities has helped Apple stick to a lower price tag.
The 32GB variant of the new iPod Touch starts at $199, while the 128GB and 256GB models have been priced at $299 and $399, respectively.
It will be available in space gray, white, gold, blue, pink and (PRODUCT)RED colors in select countries (not India) starting today.
