Government defends police action, opposition demands probe
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde defended the police's actions, stating that they shot him in self-defense. He criticized the opposition for questioning the integrity of Maharashtra police.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also supported this stance, stating it was wrong to criticize when police were trying to save lives.
However, opposition leader Vijay Wadettiwar called for a judicial probe into the incident, expressing distrust in Badlapur police and questioning their alleged carelessness during transit.

Shinde's mother refutes police claims, alleges political conspiracy
Shinde's mother, Alka Shinde, has disputed the Thane police's version of events. She alleged that her son's killing was orchestrated by some political leaders.
"My son feared Diwali crackers... It is unbelievable that he took a gun and shot some rounds," she said.
She added that even if her son had committed the crimes, he should have been given a fair chance to fight his case in court.
