    What's the story

The Thane Police have asked Nawazuddin Siddiqui, his wife Anjali Siddiqui and lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui to appear before them as part of the investigation into an alleged Call Detail Record (CDR) scam.

The summons follow the arrest of several private detectives for unlawfully acquiring the call details of Anjali, which they later sold to Rizwan.

    Here are the details.

    Details

The Police continues the probe into the matter

While speaking to mediapersons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Abhishek Trimukhi revealed that the lawyer bought Anjali's CDRs from the arrested accused for unknown reasons and thus, summons have been issued for further probe.

"We arrested 11 people and after interrogating three, we found that Rizwan Siddiqui extracted CDRs of Nawazuddin Siddiqui's wife," he said.

The actor is said to have hired the detectives.

    Background

The CDR racket was busted in January

It was on 24 January this year that the Police nabbed several private detectives who were involved in the illegal procurement and sale of CDRs of individuals including Nawaz's wife.

The arrested accused were identified as Makesh Pandian (42), Prashant Palekar (49), Jigar Makwana (35) and Samresh Jha (32).

Rajani Pandit, India's first woman private detective, was also a part of the racket.
