    Mumbai school trustee charged with raping 3 year old girl

    What's the story

    A 57 year old school trustee and a nursery teacher were charged with allegedly raping a 3 year old girl at the school premises in Mumbai.

    The police said the girl was taken to the trustee's room by the teacher and the trustee sexually assaulted her.

    The school principal said they are cooperating with the police.

    The MET department said that the monsoon will arrive on time in Mumbai, and that there is no possibility of the season to arrive earlier than the scheduled date.

    The landfall of cyclonic storm Mora has washed away chances of the monsoon arriving early in Mumbai.

    According to officials, monsoon will progress in three days after which it will advance faster.

    Shiv Sena said that BJP has failed to fulfill all its promises made prior to the election and is on a pursuit to divide them in order to end the protests.

    Luxury housing projects' sales drop in Mumbai

    High end, luxury home projects sales have dropped in Mumbai, following announcement of the strict Real Estate Regulatory Act (RERA) and demonetization for the last four quarters.

    Meanwhile, affordable homes sales jumped by 54% in new launches in metropolitan region.

    Affordable homes segment's share in total launches increased to 30% from 25% in 2015-16, while the luxury homes segment dropped to 11% from 13%.

    230 people died of Swine flu in Maharashtra this year

    230 people died this year in Maharashtra because of swine flu, making it a matter of concern for the officials-in-charge. Mumbai recorded three deaths.

    According to an official, its symptoms overlap with common cold and hence a lot of cases get diagnosed late.

    The state health department is vaccinating high-risk groups including pregnant women, the elderly, diabetics and children to prevent outbreak.

    Bombay high court appoints 14 new additional judges

    The working strength of Bombay High Court rose to 75, when 14 new additional judges were sworn in by Chief Justice of Bombay HC Manjula Chellur on Monday. The sanctioned strength of judges here is 90.

    The appointed judges also include two women judges Vibha Kankanwadi, and Bharti Dangre.

    Five of the 14 judges will serve on the principal bench in Mumbai.

    300 TISS students protest, refuse to pay fees

    Around 300 students from four campuses of Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) including Mumbai joined hands in protest of authorities' decision of discontinuing financial assistance to those from reserved categories. They all refused to pay their fees.

    The students are also against the decision of submission of Aaadhar card details for admission as students from Manipur and Assam don't have them.
