    What's the story

On the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi 's death anniversary on January 30, a Mumbai-based vada pav seller decided to donate his one-day's earning for the welfare of the Indian Army.

Mangesh sold vada pav at Rs. 5 instead of Rs. 14 from 10 am to 8 pm yesterday. The money collected would be handed over to Defense Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman.

    Hats off to him!

    The initiative

Initiative taken to make people respect our soldiers every day

As people thronged the vada pav stall, Mangesh said, "This is an initiative so that people respect our soldiers. The amount is Rs. 5 because I want that even a poor man is able to buy a vada pav."

He further added that the reason behind the low price is to "give everyone a chance to express their gratitude to the soldier fraternity."

    The donations

Mangesh had made such donations twice in the past too

As the initiative made Mangesh an inspiration for many, we got to know that he has made such donations even in the past.

In October'17, he donated his one day's earnings to the family of a young man killed in the Elphinstone stampede.

Earlier in 2015, Ahiwale donated Rs. 20,000 to Chief Minister's Relief Fund for drought-hit farmers of Marathwada and Vidarbha regions.
