Unarmed Assistant Sub-inspector caught Kasab, prevented him from shooting others

Assistant Sub-inspector Tukaram Omble played a key role in catching the lone surviving terrorist Ajmal Kasab.

Unarmed, Omble had grabbed Kasab from behind and got shot. But he held on to the gun, stopping Kasab from shooting anyone else. He died before reaching the hospital.

Mumbai's Anti-Terrorist Squad Chief, Hemant Karkare, was shot three times in the chest while trying to take down terrorists.

NSG team commander was shot from the back

Along with Karkare, Senior Police Inspector Vijay Salaskar and ACP Ashok Kamte also lost their lives.

Sandeep Unnikrishnan was the team commander of 51 Special Action Group, called to rescue Taj hostages.

He was shot from the back and his last words were, "Do not come up, I will handle them," according to NSG officials.

    Salute!

While the whole nation prayed, they were on the field

While the rest of the nation prayed for the hostages and their loved ones, these men were on the field, to save the city.
