The FBI has arrested a former US Marine for plotting to attack San Francisco during Christmas.
25-year-old Everitt Aaron Jameson was arrested after allegedly discussing his attack plot with undercover FBI agents.
Jameson was allegedly planning to attack San Francisco's Pier 39, an area popular among tourists.

Jameson's letter referred to Trump's Jerusalem decision
Investigators found guns, a will and a letter claiming responsibility for the attack, at his home.
Criminal documents state that Jameson's letter referred to President Donald Trump's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital.
Jameson came under the FBI's scanner after he expressed "radical jihadi beliefs" and support online for ISIS and the terrorist group's attacks, including the New York truck attack in October.

Jameson allegedly picked Pier 39 as a target because "he had been there before and knew that it was a heavily crowded area," criminal documents say.
He had expressed his desire to use explosives to "tunnel" or "funnel" people into a narrower area to maximise casualties.
He allegedly sought materials to build a pipe bomb from an undercover FBI agent.

Jameson was discharged from Marines, now charged with terrorism
In 2009, Jameson had undergone basic recruitment training for the US Marine Corps. However, he was discharged for failing to disclose information about his asthma. The FBI has charged him for attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist group.
