    What's the story

With just a few days left for Holi, get ready to host your party with lots of colors, quirky decor, and matching colorful outfits.

However, we recommend you choose organic or herbal colors instead of the ones infused with harmful chemicals that might affect your skin.

Natural, eco-friendly colors are made with flowers, spices, and other natural substances that are safe on your skin.

    Yellow color

The color yellow is bright, energetic, and fun to play with during Holi.

Turmeric is the best Indian spice to use to prepare your natural yellow color. It is also great for your skin. Just mix some turmeric with gram flour to make a dry gulal.

For a wet color, crush some marigold flowers, or any other color flowers, and add to water.

    Red color

    Natural red color using hibiscus

If you are looking for some natural red color to play with this Holi, then prepare one at home using natural ingredients.

Dry some hibiscus flowers and crush them well. Alternately, use red sandalwood and grind into a powder.

Rice flour or red beetroot powder can be added to get a nice and consistent color.

Boil pomegranate peels to get a bright wet color.

    Green color

You can easily prepare a dry green-colored gulal at home with lots of neem leaves and then grind them in powder form.

Packed with antiseptic properties, neem is excellent for your skin and heals scars and irritations.

If you want a wet color, make a fine paste of green leafy vegetables like spinach and mix them with water to get a natural green color.

    Magenta color

    Magenta color using fresh beetroots

Beetroots are great for producing a natural pink pigment due to the betalains present in them.

If you want a nice pink Holi color, then slice fresh beetroots and soak them in water for some time. Boil the mixture and keep it overnight.

Add some more water to increase the quantity and to get a nicer color.

You can also use pink onion peels.

    Blue color

Go blue this Holi with a vibrant blue natural color that can be easily made at home with just a few ingredients.

If you want a lovely blue powdered gulal, then crush a handful of blue hibiscus or jacaranda flowers and mix them with some rice flour.

For a wet color, crush indigo plant berries and mix them with water. And it's ready!
