    What's the story

Goa CM Manohar Parrikar recently said the drug problem in the state's colleges isn't as huge as it is made out to be.

However, he is worried about Goa's situation as "girls have started drinking beer."

While addressing the first edition of the State Youth Parliament organized by the Legislature state secretariat, he discussed various vices with students, from ganja and other drugs to porn.

    Drugs

What exactly did Parrikar say about drugs?

Parrikar, recalling his IIT Bombay days, claimed that drug abuse is not a new phenomenon. He said he knew of "a small group which was involved in ganja" on the campus years ago.

He said he is worried about the way drug syndicate works. He lamented that it starts with a small group and spread to others, who get trapped.

    Porn/drinking

Parrikar also spoke about porn and drinking

Parrikar further said, "I have begun to fear now, because even the girls have started drinking beer. So barrier of that tolerance limit is being crossed."

He also spoke about the craze of porn among students. He mentioned his peers from school would laugh at some photographs. "I do not have to say what kind they were. They used to get all kinds of porn material and laugh."

    Narcotics crackdown

Parrikar speaks about his government's narcotics crackdown

Parrikar, who had earlier announced 2018 as the anti-drug and anti-accident year, also spoke about his government's efforts to crackdown the narcotics trade.

He declared that it won't come down to zero but he will continue his fight.

He also mentioned that recently 170 people have been arrested for drug peddling.

He was optimistic about his government's efforts.
