    12 coaches of Poorva Express derail near Kanpur, 13 injured

    What's the story

    On Saturday, twelve coaches of Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express derailed and thirteen people have been injured so far, claimed reports.

    The accident took place around 1 AM near Rooma railway station, which falls under Maharajpur police station of Kanpur Nagar district.

    The injured passengers are being given aid and rescue operations are underway. Indian Railways also issued helpline numbers.

    What happened

    Train was bound for Delhi when it derailed

    The train was bound for Delhi'>New Delhi when the incident occurred. Officials said that four out of the 12 derailed Linke Hofmann Busch (LHB) coaches have overturned.

    15 ambulances rushed to the spot to take the injured to hospitals.

    Separately, a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team consisting of 45 personnel reached the site for rescue and relief operation.

    Railways issued helpline numbers as well

    The helpline numbers issued by Railways are as follows: 1072, 9454403738, 9454401463, 9454401075, 9454400384 and 0512-23333111/112/113.

    The Ministry of Railways added that a 'Relief Train' with 900 passengers onboard has left for the site from Kanpur. Reportedly, two people suffered minor injuries and one was grievously hurt in the accident.

    Kanpur District Magistrate Vijay Vishwas Pant said no casualties have been reported so far.

    Aftermath

    Howrah-Delhi Up line affected due to accident

    The accident affected other trains traveling to Delhi.

    CPRO North Central Railways said, "Down line (Delhi-Howrah) of the route has been cleared. Currently, Accident Relief Train is standing on the track. Traffic at the down line will be resumed soon."

    However, the senior official added that restoration of Up line (Howrah-Delhi) would take time and be completed by 4 PM.
