    What's the story

For Dr Abdul Gani Khan, Friday was all about treating those injured when terrorists clashed with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama district.

But when he retired to his residence after work, he was asked to return to the district hospital.

Upon reaching, he learnt his 16-year-old son Faizan Ahmad Khan had passed away.

He was injured during the clashes.

    The injury

Injured amid firing, Faizan was rushed to hospital

Faizan was injured in clashes that happened in Thamuna village and was rushed to a nearby hospital in Rajpora, where doctors recognized him.

Fearing he wouldn't survive, Faizan was rushed to the district hospital.

"We tried our best to revive him when he was brought here, but unfortunately, there were no signs of life in him," Dr Rashid Parra of the district hospital said.

    The news

Dr Khan learnt about his son's demise on reaching hospital

Dr Khan wasn't told about his son's demise and was called to the district hospital. He sat in a room as staff members wrapped Faizan's body in a shroud.

"He went to the casualty ward to see his son and broke down instantly. We all were in tears," Parra added.

Faizan was born in the same district hospital and spent his childhood in the campus.

    The operation

In Pulwama, one terrorist was gunned down, two escaped

Faizan's last rites will be held at his ancestral home in Ladoo village.

In the clash, security forces gunned down one terrorist of Lashkar-e-Taiba. Three terrorists were believed to be holed inside a house, but two managed to escape.

The Indian Army resumed a crackdown on terrorists in Kashmir two weeks ago, after a one-month ceasefire in the state during Ramzan was called off.
