    What's the story

A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer was killed when terrorists opened fire on a patrol party in Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.

According to reports, the CRPF inspector was leading his team to check the progress of a post being prepared for the deployment of a CRPF battalion when they were ambushed by terrorists.

A counter-terror operation has been initiated in response to this attack.

Jammu region witnesses surge in terrorist activities

The Jammu region, which had been relatively peaceful compared to Kashmir for several years, has recently experienced a surge in terrorist activities.

These incidents are particularly concentrated in the southern parts of the Pir Panjal range.

The dense forests and rugged mountains in this area provide a natural cover for terrorists, contributing to the increase in attacks.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reported that 28 people, including civilians and security personnel, have been killed in 11 terror-related incidents and 24 counter-terror operations up to July 21 this year.
