    NEET 2018: CBSE releases answer key, OMR images, marked responses

    What's the story

    The CBSE has released the answer key, images of OMR, responses to questions and test booklet code of the 2018 NEET today.

    You can raise objections to the answers or your recorded responses if they're wrong.

    Results will officially be declared on June 5.

    Successful candidates will be eligible for admission to top medical colleges of India.

    Here's how you can check the answer key

    Visit the official NEET website at www.cbseneet.nic.in. To check the answer key, OMR grading and marked responses, you will have to log in with your user ID and password.

    If you spot flaws, you can raise objections by paying a fee of Rs. 1,000 per item challenged. This fee is non-refundable and CBSE's decision will be final.

    The deadline for such requests is 5pm, May 27.

    23 students competed for each seat this time

    The number of registered candidates for NEET 2018 increased by a whopping 2L since last year.

    This time, 13.36L candidates competed for a total of 60,000 seats, or 23 students per seat.

    This number has been going up since NEET started in 2016. From 7.5L candidates (2016), it went up by 53% to 11.5L in 2017, and up by another 17% this time.

    Important dates for the NEET 2018

    After the declaration of results, successful candidates will undergo counseling. The last date of joining for the first round will be July 12. The last date for the second round will be August 3. The entire process is expected to be completed by August end.

    About the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test

    NEET, conducted by the CBSE, decides admissions into graduate/postgraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, MD or MS in colleges run under the Medical/Dental Council of India.

    This is the third time undergraduate medical college admissions are being decided through NEET.

    Earlier, there was the All India Pre-Medical Test (AIPMT) and individual MBBS exams conducted by states and colleges.
