What's the story
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is ready to leave his iconic Mannat residence in Bandra, Mumbai, temporarily.
The family, including his wife Gauri Khan and their kids Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam, will be moving to four floors of a luxury apartment building in the nearby Pali Hill area, called Puja Casa, in May.
The Bhagnani family—filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani, actor-filmmaker Jackky Bhagnani, and actor Deepshikha Deshmukh—are co-owners of Puja Casa.
Renovation plans
Mannat's renovation to begin in May, to take 2 years
Reportedly, the Khan family will stay at Puja Casa for at least two years as renovation work at Mannat is scheduled to start in May.
The renovation involves a long-proposed extension of the bungalow, which required court permission since Mannat is a Grade III heritage structure.
The Bhagnani family, who lived at Puja Casa for years, will now be Khan's neighbors.
Privacy measures
Khan paid a combined monthly rent of ₹24.15L
According to reports, Khan and his team are working to ensure proper safety and privacy for the family at the apartment complex.
The two duplex apartments leased by the family cover an area of 10,500 sq ft, almost half of Mannat, which stands over 27,000 sq ft.
The first duplex is rented at ₹11.54L, while the second one cost ₹12.61L, taking the combined monthly rent to ₹24.15L.
New home details
Khan family's temporary residence is quite close to Mannat
Khan's new temporary home in Puja Casa is a stone's throw away from Mannat, 3km away to be precise, taking 10-20 minutes on road.
The two duplex apartments were taken on lease for 36 months, with the lease scheduled to start from April 1.
Intriguingly, the transaction was officially registered on February 14, with none of the parties, including Khan, visiting the registration office to finalize the deal formalities.

Mannat's history and current valuation
Originally named Villa Vienna, Mannat was bought by Khan in 2001 for ₹13.01 crore but is now worth around ₹200 crore.
The property has a long history, dating back to 1914 when the house was built and owned by Nariman A. Dubash.
Despite being a Grade-III heritage property, Khan added a six-story annex behind the main structure called the Mannat Annexe.
