Tamil cinema icon Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals in Chennai on Monday evening after reportedly experiencing stomach pain.
A statement released by the hospital on Tuesday revealed that the actor had swelling in his aorta, the main blood vessel leaving his heart.
This condition was treated non-surgically by Dr. Sai Satish, a senior interventional cardiologist who placed a stent in Rajinikanth's aorta to seal off the swelling.

The hospital's statement, shared by ANI, read: "Mr. Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospitals, Greams Road, on 30th September 2024. He had a swelling in the main blood vessel leaving his heart (aorta), which was treated by a non-surgical, transcatheter method."
"Senior interventional Cardiologist Dr. Sai Satish placed a stent in the aorta completely sealing off the swelling (Endovascular Repair). We would like to let his well-wishers and fans know that the procedure went as planned."

Rajinikanth's wife and TN Health Minister provided updates
Earlier, the actor's wife, Latha Rajinikanth, assured fans that "all is well" but didn't share any further details about his health.
Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian also weighed in, saying that Rajinikanth had gone to the hospital for a routine check-up. He added that because of his celebrity status, he was asked to get admitted at night for this check-up.

Rajinikanth's upcoming projects remain on schedule
Despite his recent health scare, Rajinikanth's professional commitments continue as planned. He recently attended the audio and preview launch of his upcoming film Vettaiyan, directed by TJ Gnanavel and set for release on October 10.
The film features a star-studded cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan, and Abhirami.
In addition to Vettaiyan (his 170th film), he is also working on Lokesh Kanagaraj's Coolie slated for a 2025 release.
