John, Hrithik, Aamir: Revisiting the iconic villains of 'Dhoom' franchise
What's the story
Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is all set to play the antagonist in the much-anticipated Dhoom 4, reported Pinkvilla on Saturday.
It will be his 25th project and will mark a significant turn in his career. No other actor from the previous films is reported to return.
While we await Kapoor's action avatar, let's revisit the iconic villains of the Dhoom franchise.
'Dhoom'
John Abraham in 'Dhoom'
This Yash Raj Films's franchise kicked off in 2004 under the direction of Sanjay Gadhvi, featuring Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra as cops and John Abraham as the central villain.
Abraham, as Kabir, stepped into the character's shoes stylishly, with his long hair, bike stunts, and the theme music becoming a nationwide rage!
Interestingly, his character ended on a cliffhanger, and fans still hope that he may return in some form!
'Dhoom 2'
Hrithik Roshan in 'Dhoom 2'
The second part carried forward the legacy through Mr. A, essayed by Hrithik Roshan.
Who can forget his role as the master of disguises, the most enjoyable of them being his get-up as Queen Elizabeth!
Roshan fused new energy into the series, and his memorable collaboration with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan further gave the film its much-needed gravitas.
To this day, it remains one of Roshan's most evergreen roles.
'Dhoom 3'
Aamir Khan in 'Dhoom 3'
Dhoom 3 may not have lived up to the expectations set by the first two films, but it still stands as yet another example of Aamir Khan's versatility.
Khan's artistic caliber was on full display as Sahir and Samar, especially closer to the climax when the twist is revealed to the audience.
As much a high-stakes heist thriller as it's a family drama, Dhoom 3 stands tall even as a standalone film.

YRF's plans for 'Dhoom 4' production and upcoming releases
Yash Raj Films (YRF) is gearing up to kick off filming for Dhoom 4 by late 2025 or early 2026.
They plan to lock in the director by mid-2025, who'll then jump into an extensive recce and pre-production process with the team.
This is part of YRF's ambitious plan to roll out some of India's biggest films over the next five years, including War 2, Alpha, Mardani 3, Pathaan 2, and Tiger vs Pathaan.
