    What's the story

Amazon Prime Video has revealed the premiere date for its much-anticipated original series, Citadel: Honey Bunny. The Indian installment of the Citadel franchise is set to launch on November 7.

Varun Dhawan, one of the lead actors, disclosed at a special screening event that the series was filmed in real locations around Mumbai.

This revelation added an authentic touch to the eagerly awaited series, helmed by Raj & DK (Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK).

    Filming locations

'We were shooting...one day in Bhandup, one day in Thane'

During the special screening, Dhawan, sharing the stage with his co-star Samantha Ruth Prabhu, revealed intriguing details about the locations used in the upcoming series.

"After Badlapur and October, I was shooting on real locations," Dhawan said.

"With this, we were shooting every day, one day in Bhandup, one day in Thane. I was like, 'This is an Amazon show? I thought they would take us to sets.' But they were like, 'No, it has to be on the streets.'"

    Series narrative

'Citadel: Honey Bunny' blends spy thriller with love story

The storyline of Citadel: Honey Bunny merges elements of a gritty spy action thriller with a love story, set against the backdrop of the 1990s.

Nikhil Madhok, Head of Originals at Prime Video India, stated that the series will transport audiences back to the genesis of an international clandestine spy agency.

Written by Sita R Menon, this unique blend promises to offer viewers an engaging and thrilling experience.

    Franchise expansion

'Citadel: Honey Bunny' joins the global 'Citadel' franchise

The original Citadel series, starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, premiered in 2023.

The Italian installment, Citadel: Diana, is set to premiere on October 10. Following these releases, India's series, Citadel: Honey Bunny, will debut on November 7.

In the meantime, a second season of the original Citadel series is also slated to begin production this year with Joe Russo directing it reportedly.
