    Malayalam film 'Vadakkan' gets India's first-ever audio trailer

    The makers of Vadakkan, a Malayalam paranormal thriller film, have released India's first-ever audio trailer. The unique promotional strategy was released on social media on Thursday.

    Vadakkan stars Tamil actor Kishore and Sruthy Menon in lead roles under the direction of Sajeed A.

    The film will be released in theaters on March 7, 2025.

    The audio trailer was shared with an intriguing caption that read, "Experience the Unknown Through Sound. What happens when you encounter the unknown—without sight, only sound? Step into a world where your imagination fills the void."

    "India's first-ever audio trailer is here. Close your eyes, listen closely, and let the mystery unfold. Are you ready to hear the unseen?"

    'Vadakkan' explores North Malabar folklore, created by world-class crew

    Vadakkan dives into the supernatural thriller territory, weaving an intricate tale inspired by ancient North Malabar folklore.

    The movie is a part of the Vadakkan Universe, brought to life by a world-class crew including Resul Pookutty, Kieko Nakahara, Bijibal, and Unni R.

    The production has been done under the banner of OffbeetStudios.

    Global recognition

    'Vadakkan' made history at international film festivals

    Vadakkan has already made a mark on the international film festival circuit. It was the first Malayalam film to be part of The Brussels International Fantastic Film Festival (BIFFF) Market 2024's International Projects Showcase section.

    It also bagged a spot at the Cannes Film Festival's prestigious Marche du Film Fantastic Pavilion, a major milestone for Malayalam cinema.

    'Vadakkan' bagged Best Feature Film award in France

    Vadakkan also bagged the Best Feature Film award at the Autumn Edition of the Red Movie Awards in Reims, France.

    At Cannes, during its screening, Pablo Guisa, Executive Director of Fantastic Pavilion, had praised the film's gripping narrative and unique storytelling format. He had lauded it as a testament to the strength of Indian cinema in the global genre cinema space.
