Johar had previously confirmed that his next project would be an action film, which he is currently scripting.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, Malhotra is being considered for the lead role in this film.
A trade source told the publication, "Sidharth Malhotra and Karan Johar share a very special bond and the latter feels that the former is meant to do action films."

The source further revealed that Johar had narrated the film's story to Malhotra, who has shown interest in participating.
However, there is no official confirmation from either party involved yet.
The insider also disclosed that discussions are in advanced stages as Johar is developing a quintessential hero vs villain film.
It will be treated as a two-hero face-off movie, said the insider, adding, "Things will fly through in the right direction."
