The 37-year-old actor now has 91.4M followers on the social media platform, slightly more than Modi's 91.3M. This development comes in the wake of Kapoor's recent blockbuster success, Stree 2. However, Modi remains the most-followed global leader on X (formerly Twitter) with over 101.2M followers.

With this achievement, Kapoor has become the third most-followed Indian on Instagram. Whether she's enjoying 'vada pavs,' hanging out with her father Shakti Kapoor, or posting selfies, Kapoor connects with fans by sharing the everyday moments of her life. She is now only surpassed by cricketer Virat Kohli and actor Priyanka Chopra Jonas, who have 271M and 91.8M followers respectively. Other popular Indian celebrities on the platform include Alia Bhatt with 85.1M followers and Deepika Padukone with 79.8M followers.
'Stree 2' success boosts Kapoor's popularity
Kapoor's rise in Instagram followers comes on the heels of her latest film, horror-comedy Stree 2, which was released in theaters on August 15. The horror-comedy, also starring Rajkummar Rao, is nearing a stupendous ₹300cr mark in global gross box office collections in less than a week of its debut on August 15. It is a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree. The film's success has undoubtedly contributed to Kapoor's increased popularity on social media.
