Shoojit Sircar's 'smile-inducing' film with Abhishek to release in November

Acclaimed filmmaker Shoojit Sircar has revealed that his upcoming yet-to-be-titled movie, starring Abhishek Bachchan, will hit the theaters on November 15.
The director, known for his slice-of-life films like Piku and October, described the project as a simple observation of life with a little smile.
This is the first time Sircar is collaborating with Jr. Bachchan, after working with his father Amitabh Bachchan on multiple projects.

In an interview with PTI, Sircar shared that the upcoming film will explore a father-daughter relationship, similar to his 2015 hit Piku, which starred Big B and Deepika Padukone in lead roles.
He expressed confidence in the project, stating, "I can guarantee that it is one of the finest of Abhishek Bachchan films."
The director also mentioned that he and Bachchan had been wanting to work together but were waiting for the right script.

Sircar explained the gap between his films
When asked about the long gap between his films, Sircar explained that he didn't have a script ready.
"When I have a script and when I know that this script is ready to move on to the floor, that's when I do it. Because of the COVID-19 and Gulabo Sitabo and Sardar Udham Singh releasing back-to-back, I didn't have the time to focus on a script," he said.
Filmmaking approach
'I make very few films, my subjects are offbeat...'
Sircar, known for his unique storytelling style, acknowledged that his films are not for everyone.
"I make very few films and my subjects are very offbeat but it's usually stories of everyday life that I see. Some love them and some don't but I am okay with it," he said.
"I try because somewhere these films are expensive and they need recovery. As a director, I have to take that responsibility. That recovery lies on me...I have to be responsible."
Early influences
Sircar's early influences shaped his storytelling style
Sircar, who started his career in theater before moving to Mumbai for filmmaking, believes his non-film influences have shaped his storytelling style.
"I got inspired by Satyajit Ray and he is the Bible on everything...the golden cinema of India...1950s to 1980s, films by Tapan Sinha, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Sai Paranjpye," he said.
