    Shonali Bose plans re-release of 'Margarita with a Straw'

    What's the story

    Acclaimed filmmaker Shonali Bose is considering re-releasing her film Margarita With A Straw, which completes 10 years this year.

    Speaking exclusively to Zoom, Shonali said, "I would love to re-release Margarita With A Straw."

    "The film completes 10 years. Nilesh Maniyar and I co-wrote and produced the film which released in April 2015," she said.

    The film is currently streaming on Netflix and JioHotstar.

    'Margarita with a Straw' and 'Amu' could hit theaters again

    Bose's 2015 film Margarita With A Straw stars Kalki Koechlin as an Indian teenager with cerebral palsy who relocates to America for her undergraduate education.

    Sayani Gupta, Revathi, Kuljeet Singh, and William Moseley play supporting roles in the film.

    Apart from Margarita With A Straw, Bose also expressed interest in re-releasing her other film Amu, starring Konkona Sen Sharma.

    'Margarita with a Straw' received critical acclaim

    Margarita With A Straw performed well at the box office and premiered at the 2014 Toronto International Film Festival before its release.

    The movie was also showcased at the Tallinn Black Nights, BFI London, Vesoul Festival of Asian Cinema, and Galway Film Fleadh.

    Koechlin's role in the movie also won her the National Film Award - Special Jury Award.

    New release

    Meanwhile, Bose recently released 'Ziddi Girls' on Prime Video

    Along with her films, Bose also recently directed the Amazon Prime Video series Ziddi Girls.

    The young adult drama was produced by Pritish Nandy under the banner of Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd.

    The series, which was released on February 27, has a talented cast including Atiya Tara Nayak, Umang Bhadana, Zaina Ali, Deeya Damini, and Anupriya Caroli in lead roles.
