    What's the story

In the latest development in the 'Krrish 3' copyright violation case, the Supreme Court has directed a Dehradun-based novelist to make a reasonable claim to producer-director Rakesh Roshan to settle the matter.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra also asked Roshan to pay the amount to the novelist and close the case.

    Here are the details.

    Details

The matter has been listed for April 9

The bench that also comprised Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud has given a window of approximately 20 days to the novelist to make the claim.

"We expect that the novelist shall put forth his claim which would be reasonable so that the Roshan can be asked to accept the same," the bench said.

    Background

The case dates back to 2016

Novelist Rupnarayan Sonkar had filed a Police complaint against Roshan in 2016 accusing him of plagiarizing portions of his novel called 'Suardaan' in the superhero film.

Post that, an FIR was registered against the filmmaker at the Dalanwala Police Station, Uttarakhand.

Roshan moved apex court after his plea quashing the FIR was rejected by the Uttarakhand High Court.
