    What's the story

    After Sam Hargrave-directed Extraction, Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda will be once again joining hands with Netflix for the upcoming series, CAT.

    The streaming giant gave us the actor's first look from the revenge-thriller show on Tuesday, where Hooda can be seen donning the turban.

    CAT has been created by Balwinder Singh Janjua and a premiere date is yet to be announced.

    What was the announcement all about?

    Taking to its social media handles, Netflix India shared the poster for the series on February 22.

    We see a turban-clad Hooda's bust shot in a black-and-white background with a gun resting at one corner.

    "The choices are few and dangerous when you belong to rival gangs. We're at the edge of our seats. The story of #CAT is coming soon!" read the caption.

    Crime thriller is set in Punjab hinterlands

    The show will follow the story of "an innocent man, who is thrown into a deep, drug trafficking conspiracy between gang lords, cops, and political powers."

    CAT is being dubbed as a crime thriller set against the backdrop of the Punjab hinterlands.

    Janjua, known for writing films like Saand Ki Aankh and Mubarakan, has helmed the show along with Rupinder Chahal and Anutej Singh.

    Speaking about the project, the Kick star said, "CAT...has all the elements to appeal to a global audience. It has given me an opportunity to explore new facets as an actor in a simple but intriguing script."

    Produced by Movie Tunnel Productions in association with Jelly Bean Entertainment, Janjua has also co-written the script along with Chahal, Anil Rodhan, and Jimmy Singh.

    Background

    This is Hooda-Janjua's second collaboration

    Tracing back, the project was announced in September last year.

    With Hooda as a gangster, the story was reported to be capturing two timelines—1991 and 2005.

    Around the same time, the shoot had begun in Punjab.

    Notably, CAT will mark Hooda's second collaboration with Janjua after Tera Kya Hoga Lovely.

    Hooda will be starring opposite Ileana D'Cruz in this one.
